Weekly Writing Club
This year we will resume Writing Club, sadly Sr Judith’s death left us mourning  her for the conclusion of last year but it is time to begin again.  Yet to decide whether to source another writing teacher or to form our own club again.
Want to develop skills such as; Creative Writing, Key Word Outlines, Note Taking, Oral Reports, Writing from Outlines, Three Paragraph Report and Research Reports.

4. Technological And Applied Studies
Malachi’s strength is technological design, he has an amazing ability to look at a problem and come up with incredible solutions.  We truly would not be surprised if his career path involves inventions.

Built Environments
As we have been owner building for the past four years and likely another two years to come, Malachi has become most familiar with many aspects of design environments.  He has been actively involved in building our home and learnt a variety of skills along the way.  His industrial technology skills include the practical; work safety practices, reading plans, carpentry, gyprocking, painting, roofing, etc and many intangible but extremely important such as patience, tenacity and teamwork.

Products and Information
Malachi is to become more actively involved in food preparation this year.  Our goal is that he is capable of preparing and presenting at least 7 meals of his choice for 10 people.  He is also to become more confident with baking for a grain and sugar free diet. Malachi is to also take a more active role in menu preparation and shopping.

Information and Communications
Malachi will be developing his skills software design, designing games programs. He will use problem solving and critical thinking skills to achieve his design. He will be collaborating with Xavier to achieve his aim.  He will also further develop his proficiency and confidence with mulitmedia via using a variety of multimedia options such as webcam and email. Malachi will also focus on information systems design via introduction to excel databases, ie menus and shopping lists are to be prepared in excel and will be furthering his knowledge and skills with Word.

6. Creative Arts
Dance
Malachi will be studying Rock & Roll and Old Time Dance this year

Drama 
Our family each year writes and performs a mini play/skit at our end of year concert.  We will do so again this year, perhaps even attempting a longer play for 2014.

Music
Malachi to listen to at least 4 different classical music artists and read their biographies. Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart and Wagner.  He will also listen to a variety of other music artists of his choice.
Malachi will also learn to sing several new hymns.

Photographic and Digital Media
Malachi will be developing his skills in digital media design including photography and video production.  He may choose to present these skills online via his blog or explore other options.

Visual Arts
Malachi has an interest and is talented at drawing.  We will encourage him to deepen his interest and further his skills in this area.  We will also be encouraging him to explore painting, with either watercolour, acrylic or oils paints.
We will also explore sculpting with clay and perhaps ceramics.
Malachi will also be making chain mail links and ‘weaving’ them into a chain mail suit.

7. Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
Child Studies
Due to the nature of our family life Malachi is quite familiar with child development stages from newborn through to the teen years.  Practically speaking Malachi is extremely capable of dealing with and meeting the needs of babies through to pre-adolescents.

Self & Relationships
Malachi is to have a strong sense of self identity and to have healthy boundaries and to be aware of the need of others to have the same.
To gain this through personal conversations and positive encouragement

Movement, Skill & Performance
Malachi to focus this year on dance and soccer refereeing

Individual & Community Health
Malachi is to have an understanding of reproductive health, the need for personal hygiene and an awareness of health choices.  To be aware of the positive and negative choices that can be made and the consequence of such choices.  This knowledge to be gained through personal conversations, positive encouragement and teaching strategies of how to handle various situations

Lifelong Physical Activity
Malachi to have an understanding of the importance of exercise and nutritional health, and the knowledge of how to make positive choices and put them into practice.

Physical Activity and Sports Studies
Malachi to be aware of the importance of physical activity on an individual and community level.  He has gained an excellent understanding of the rules of soccer through his year and continuing year as a soccer referee.  Also the importance of govering a game via a set of rules.  He has develped personal skills to participate in team sprots ie soccer, individual skills ie swimming and is quite confident in participating in various other sports
